"Game of Thrones" Season 7, Episode 5 is titled "Eastwatch." The episode begins with Daenerys Targaryen and her army marching towards King's Landing in the aftermath of the Battle of the Goldroad. Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth travel to Dragonstone to mine dragonglass, and Jon is able to convince Daenerys to let him mine the substance after showing her evidence of the White Walkers and the Night King.


At Winterfell, Littlefinger continues to try to manipulate Sansa Stark, but she is able to outmaneuver him and keep him in check. Bran Stark reveals to Sansa that Littlefinger was responsible for their father's death, and Sansa has him arrested.


In King's Landing, Jaime Lannister is trying to convince Cersei Lannister to ally with Daenerys, but Cersei is unwilling to give up her power and instead decides to double down on her military efforts.


At Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth meet with Gendry, who is now a blacksmith for the Brotherhood Without Banners. Jon convinces Gendry to join him on a mission beyond the Wall to capture a wight and bring it back to King's Landing to prove to Cersei the existence of the White Walkers.


The episode ends with Jon Snow, Davos Seaworth, Jorah Mormont, Tormund Giantsbane, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, and Gendry setting out beyond the Wall on their mission to capture a wight.
